Jun.18 (GMM) Formula 1 could be preparing to revive its controversial all-team launch concept.
The sport staged its first combined season presentation at London’s O2 Arena in early 2025 as part of Formula 1’s 75th anniversary celebrations, bringing every team together for a televised event before the season began.
The concept divided opinion among fans and paddock figures, but reports suggest Formula 1 is considering a return.
According to London’s City AM, Milan is emerging as a potential host for a future edition, possibly in 2027.
However, London’s O2 Arena is already lobbying to keep the event in Britain.
“Definitely,” AEG International senior vice president for sport Gael Caselli said when asked if the venue would welcome Formula 1 back.
“It was an amazing event, honestly. We are having discussions with them.
“We’ve heard that they’ve been assessing different options – I just don’t know whether that will be in London or in a different city or a different format.”
Formula 1 has yet to confirm whether the group launch concept will return, although Stefano Domenicali has indicated that it might.
While the event generated significant commercial interest and sold out the 20,000-capacity arena, it also presented major logistical challenges by requiring every team, driver and senior executive to gather in one location before the season.
The format itself also proved divisive, with some fans embracing the spectacle while others preferred traditional individual team launches.
“We’d love to have them back and they know it,” Caselli said.
“And I’m sure they’d love to come back. It just has to make sense for them.”
