The race has been moved from its usual June slot to the fourth weekend of May (Memorial Day weekend). This change is designed to minimize transatlantic travel for teams and personnel, aligning with F1’s goal of a more efficient and sustainable calendar.
In 2025, George Russell clinched Mercedes’ first victory of the season, a race that ended in dramatic style after a collision between McLaren team mates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Most of the frontrunners executed a two-stop strategy, setting up for a thrilling finale as the gaps amongst the top five cars became increasingly close in the closing stages. While Russell was leading from Verstappen, Piastri was trying to catch Kimi Antonelli for third – but the Australian also had Norris hot on his tail. The McLaren pair then engaged in a feisty battle and contact occurred between them after Norris hit the back of Piastri’s car, resulting in Norris parking up at the side of the track. The Briton went on to apologize for the incident over the radio.
With the Safety Car being deployed as Norris’ stricken car was recovered, Russell crossed the line to seal his fourth career Grand Prix victory while Verstappen followed in second. There were also double celebrations at Mercedes as Antonelli claimed third, marking the Italian’s debut F1 podium.

If you are into the action on pit lane these are the seats for you! Set up in front of the garages Grandstand 1 seats offer a view of all the excitement happening in the pits. These seats also provide excellent views of all the pre- and post-race festivities. There are also giant screens that enable you to follow the action elsewhere on the track. This grandstand is uncovered and seats have a backrest.

Situated in the tough Senna corner Grandstand 11 offers great views of the start finish straight, turn 1 and turn 2. Especially exciting at the start of the race. A little bit of a hike but definitely worth it. This grandstand is uncovered with bench style seating.

Situated directly in front of the hairpin Grandstand 15 is one of the best spots for late braking and overtakes. This grandstand is also one of the closest grandstands to the metro station at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. This grandstand is uncovered with bench style seating.

Located at turn 2 in the Senna Corner Grandstand 12 provides great views of turn 1, turn 2 and the cars coming out of the pits. Guests also get a view of the cars climbing up to turn 3 with the Montreal skyline in the background. Especially exciting at the start of the race. A little bit of a hike but definitely worth it. The Lance Stroll Grandstand is situated on the exit of the hairpin, one of the best spots on circuit for passing with views of the slight left turn 11. Formerly known as grandstand 24 this grandstand was renamed the Lance Stroll Grandstand in 2019 to support the young Canadian driver. This grandstand is also one of the closest grandstands to the metro station at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. This grandstand is uncovered with bench style seating.

Very close to the action the Platinum Grandstand is an ultra-comfortable viewing location that is covered (the only stand that is covered, you may have some sun during the day depending on the position of the sun) and features individual seats with seat backs. The Platinum Grandstand is located inside the track between the starting grid and the Senna corner. You will see the cars decelerating before braking to your right and negotiating the very tight and famous sequence left-right-left. A big screen TV is opposite this grandstand.
