Guests joining Grand Prix Tours at the Festival of Speed should be ready for a unique motorsports event that is unlike any other in the world. The Festival of Speed and the Revival are two of the most special and now iconic motor-centric events that happen from year to year.
The Festival of Speed is centered around the famous Goodwood Hill Climb Event. The Hill Climb event runs from Thursday to Sunday where hundreds of new and classic vehicles take to the track twice each day. The excitement of the event crescendos on Sunday, for the Sunday Shoot Out, where all of the cars compete for the fastest time. Although the event is based on the Hill Climb there are many more sights and interesting interactive attractions at the event.
The track for the Hill Climb is just 1.16 miles or 1.86 kilometers in length. The track has nearly a 5% gradient with a total elevation change of 304 feet or 92.7 meters during the run. The hypercars from Koenigsegg and Czinger put in a great effort this year, the Jesko Attack managing a 50.2-second run and the 21C managing a blistering 48.82-second run. Both bested a Sauber Mercedes Group C prototype. The Czinger even bested Nick Padmore in his Lotus 77, though not without its own small injury, with Chris Ward biffing the wing mirror off on the bales.
That said due to safety F1 cars are no longer eligible for timed runs and are now used for spectacular on-track demonstrations.

Take a short trip into the city and discover the rich maritime & architectural traditions of Southampton’s past and present in medieval Bargate, and explore the Sea City Museum, home of the world-famous Titanic exhibition. Southampton is the south coast’s metropolitan mecca, where an eclectic mix of shopping and entertainment awaits at West Quay. A sophisticated marina can be found right on the hotel’s doorstep, complete with cinemas, cool bars and chic restaurants.
Guest room features a king-size bed, super-soak rain shower, hairdryer, bath robes, flat screen TV, Nespresso machine, in room safe, mini bar with complimentary gin & sherry!
Perched in the south of England, the city of Southampton has heaps of history, galleries and museums to explore. Not only that, but it’s also a great city to base yourself on for a trip around the wider region (that’s totally stunning). You’ll be spoilt for choice, especially with South Downs National Park, dramatic coastlines and the Isle of Wight close by! So much to see and do, we have included a few below:
Considered one of Southampton’s oldest and important Tudor buildings, the Tudor House and Garden is a dazzler you can’t miss in the city. Holding over 800 years-worth of the city’s history, the half-timbered structure was built way back in the 15th century. At the time, it was a wealthy private home that stood proudly in the much smaller Southampton. Nowadays, it’s a museum that explores the vast history of the region.
Did you know, Southampton is closely tied to the iconic ship – the Titanic? It was the first port it left before sinking after hitting that iceberg on its route to New York City. To commemorate that fateful journey from Southampton, numerous sites have been constructed and dedicated to the ship and the overall tragedy all across the city.
Bargate, the Medieval Gate in right in the center of Southampton. It’s part of the city’s long history and was built way back in the 12th century.
If you love museums, then the SeaCity Museum is a place you can’t miss! Paying tribute to Southampton’s seafaring history and heritage, it’s one of the best things to do in Southampton to get a rounded history of the city.
Medieval city walls were a feature of many cities in England, with Southampton being one of the greats! This vast wall, separated by eight gates and supported by 29 towers was the pride of the city with some still standing to this day.
As much as Southampton is closely associated with the sea, it’s also deeply connected with the skies, too; and the Solent Sky Museum will tell you why. Housing an impressive collection of models and photographs from the golden age of aviation, great if you love aviation and tech history.
A stone’s throw away from Southampton’s center is the Medieval Merchant’s house. Inside the English Heritage property, you will find replicas of furniture, wall hangings, and living conditions as if you’re back in the 14th Century. It’s well worth taking a look, especially if you want more of the cities long (and pretty epic) history.
