The Indianapolis 500 is as American as apple pie and every mile of the race is history in the making. With 2020 being the 104th year of the event the aerodynamics of these modern cars and speeds reaching 240 miles per hour would have been unthinkable in the early days.
The race experience today is extraordinary with track side accommodation such as the Tower Terrace Suite, a fully enclosed air conditioned suite with closed circuit TVs as well as a private grandstand for outside viewing. Other options Grand Prix Tours recommends to enhance your race day experience would be the Live Race Scanner. The Live Race Scanner features a noise canceling head set and the ability to tap into team radio frequencies allowing you to listen to the drivers in real time.
Guests of Grand Prix Tours can expect excellent hotel accommodation and a race experience they will never forget. The Saturday leading up to race day includes a visit to Gasoline Alley and the Indy 500 driver introductions. Race day starts with a police escort direct to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Once at the track you’ll want to head to your seats as festivities begin almost immediately with a singing of “Back Home Again In Indiana” and other very patriotic pre-race entertainment. This will be the 35th trip for Grand Prix Tours and we hope you can join us for the 104th Indianapolis 500.

Indianapolis like most American Cities has change over the years. However each year on Memorial Day weekend the changes are electric, the city fills to capacity as the enormous crowds visit for the Indy 500. There are many races named after the city the race is in, but I cannot think of a city named after a race like Speedway, Indiana. It`s all about tradition. Like the restaurant we try to visit every year, it is where all the racers and teams all eat during the month of May; it`s where the retired drivers go. The restaurant, St Elmo's Steak House where the shrimp cocktail`s are to die for (go easy on the horseradish); we will reserve a table for you if you want.
On Memorial Day weekend, the Indy 500 is more famous than the city. Everywhere you go around the city it is all about the 500. The Festival Parade on Saturday fills the streets in celebration of the 500. When you go to your hotel the lobby has banners from the 500`s sponsors. Talk in all the restaurants is about; you've guessed it, The 500.
Take in the atmosphere and the passion for the race and don`t forget to visit the 500 Museum, it's steeped in racing history. On Saturday we will take you to Gasoline Alley and the drivers introductions.
If you haven`t experienced the 500 you should go. If you have been, take someone who has not, they will remember it for life.
Race tickets are not included with your hotel package. Please check the "Race Tickets" tab for ticket options.
