The very first British Formula One Grand Prix took place at Silverstone in 1950 on a track marked out with straw bales and large oil drums. An old London double-decker bus acted as the control tower and the pits were made from scaffolding and canvas. The British Grand Prix is very different at today`s modern Silverstone track which always seems to hold an exciting race.

This part of England is the home of British Formula 1 with more than half of the current teams within an hour`s drive of each other. You will go to see an F1 team`s race shop, the Heritage Museum and the Williams Grand Prix Technical Center during the one day extravaganza of Formula One visits.
