It`s considered the toughest ticket to get of any sporting event - it is harder to score a ticket for this than it is to get a seat for the Super Bowl or World Series. Every year more than 160,000 fans make the pilgrimage for one night of intense racing. And only here are tempers hotter than the Tennessee sun in August.

lmost 50 years ago one would have found it hard to imagine that the location of what was once a sleepy dairy farm is now one of the most popular races on the NASCAR schedule. When Larry Carrier and Carl Moore traveled to Charlotte in 1960 to watch a race, they decided to build a speedway in Northeastern Tennessee. Wanting something smaller than Charlotte Motor Speedway, the decided upon building a half mile track. Little did they know the phenomenon that would become Bristol Motor Speedway - or more specifically, the Bristol 500 in August!

Bristol was declared by the U.S. Congress as the Birthplace of Country Music and known world wide as the "Big Bang of Country Music". The city remains true to its roots by keeping music alive with performances most nights in the historic downtown and with the Rhythm and Roots Reunion Festival in September of each year.
