United States Grand Prix

Over the years the United States has had more US F1 drivers and hosted more Grand Prix races than any other nation. From the wonderful Watkins Glen to the fabulous COTA circuit, there are few nations with tracks to compare. There were of course a few duds along the way that we should pretend never happened. The COTA circuit in Austin, is amongst the really great circuits of the World, Spa Francorhamps, Suzuka, Monza and COTA are in a class of their own.
The F1 cars are the best they have ever been, they are now faster than 3.5 V10`s and use 65% less fuel. Their designs are taking the automobile industry into the 21st century. Mercedes has a 25% increase in sales due to their dominance with the hybrid F1 formula. VW would have achieved the same if they made a hybrid F1 car rather than cheat pollution tests with their diesel engine software. The future of F1 in the United States looks really good with COTA and Haas making a sensible and successful entry into the F1 championship. It would be even better if Haas had a Chrysler engine, I must mention that if I ever meet "M" the chief of Chrysler, Fiat, Ferrari and Alfa. It really makes sense for Auto Conglomerates to partner with smaller race teams with an engine like a rebranded Ferrari unit. Great marketing and the latest unit development with an interchange of engineers, the Chrysler Dodge group would become the proud partner of a great team and their production cars would improve.

Four Seasons Hotel Austin

The Four Seasons Austin has been dramatically transformed to create a statement in contemporary design brought to life by the hues of Lady Bird Lake, the surrounding Hill Country and the beautiful Texas sunsets. All quarters offer exceptional views of the lake or the Austin cityscape. Each luxurious guest room provides state-of-the-art technology, including flat-screen televisions, wireless and wired high-speed Internet access, direct dial multi-line telephones with fax ports, a CD player, complimentary newspaper, Down duvets and pillows, a hair dryer, iHome alarm clock, iPod docking station, an iron and ironing board and a refrigerated private bar. When you are not lounging around in your thick terry bathrobe, enjoy a glass of wine in the stylish restaurant, TRIO, which overlooks Lady Bird Lake, take a swim in the Hotel`s outdoor saltwater pool, enjoy a workout in the onsite Fitness Center or perhaps catch a little R&R in the luxurious onsite spa.
Extra night prices on request.

Austin has been called a few different names. It started out in 1839 as Waterloo and changed to Austin in honor of Stephen F. Austin, the "Father of Texas". It has adopted several other names over the years, such as the "Violet Crown", "Silicon Hills", and the name of "the Live Music Capital of the World" and more recently "Keep Austin Weird". What ever you call the Texas Capitol City it has a wonderful atmosphere and a night life full of music and fun, well worth the visit.

The Austin skyline has dramatically changed in recent years with some of the tallest condo towers in the state, the growth has been aided by the presence of a popular live music and the nightlife scene, museums, restaurants, and Lady Bird Lake, it is considered one of the city`s best recreational spots.

The South by Southwest is a music, film and interactive festival which occurs over five day each March in downtown Austin, and includes one of the world`s largest music festivals; with more than 3,000 acts playing in more than 100 venues so you can understand the Live Music Capital of the World name. But for us, just down the road from Austin, is one of the finest race tracks in the world, it does not have a bad seat anywhere. The US should be so proud of this facility.

Race tickets are not included with your hotel package. Please check the "Race Tickets" tab for ticket options.

F1 Driver Talk Show

Along with the desire to see the machines of F1 charge around the many circuits of the world lies an even greater passion to get to know the men behind the machines. On Saturday, around 7:30 pm, enjoy drinks at the Omni and let us make your race weekend one to remember as an F1 Driver and race commentator James Allen show you what racing is like from the inside out.

Our Host James Allen

James Allen hosted Grand Prix Tours cocktail parties for over 20 years and is one of the most experienced and insightful broadcasters and journalists working in Formula 1 today.

His driver guests have included most of the top drives in F1. Sir Jackie Stewart has been a regular guest.
James joined ITV in 1997 as pit lane reporter having fulfilled a similar role on the American sports channel ESPN since 1993.

He lives in North West London with his wife Pip and sons Enzo and Emerson. The boys prefer motocross to F1.

F1 Driver Carlos Sainz

Last year we were excited to have Carlos Sainz joining us at our F1 driver hosted talk show.

Born in Madrid in 1994, Sainz first got behind the wheel at the age of seven when he began to drive at his father`s indoor karting centre. At the age of 15, he not only graduated to car racing but was invited to join Red Bull`s heralded junior team. Under the watchful eye of Dr Helmut Marko, Sainz raced to a solid fourth in the European Formula BMW championship before following that up with a commanding victory at Macau in the Asian-Pacific series.

His progression continued in 2011 as he made a hugely successful transition to Formula Renault 2.0, Red Bull then placed Sainz in Formula 3 in 2012 where he`d compete in both the British and European series. Sainz moved on again in 2013, to the F1-supporting GP3 Series.

He raced for DAMS in Formula Renault 3.5 in 2014 winning the championship before moving to F1 with Toro Rosso. In 2017 it was announced that for the 2018 season he would race for the Renault F1 team on a season long loan, whilst still contracted to Red Bull Racing. Sainz will drive for McLaren starting in 2019, replacing fellow countryman Fernando Alonso.

"I watched Fernando Alonso win the world championship on TV when I was 10- or 11-years-old and back then I would never have dreamed that I would one day be racing against him," commented a delighted Sainz. "When Helmut Marko told me I had got the seat and I was going to race with people like him and Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel, the size of what I`d achieved suddenly hit me."

F1 Charity Auction

A "once-in-a-lifetime behind the scenes" tour for 2 guests, of the F1 Paddock, hosted by James Allen was auctioned. The lucky winners got to rub shoulders with the F1 Drivers and visit the F1 team garages! Talk about VIP!!

Charity Auction: Daniel Ricciardo`s Race Shoe

The Grand Prix Trust donated an amazing framed box containing a photo of Martin Brundle drinking out of Daniel`s shoe after his race win in 2017 in Baku, plus the actual shoe. All proceeds benefitted the Grand Prix Trust, so bring your check book for this unique opportunity, who knows what we will get our hands on this year!
