Guests joining Grand Prix Tours at the Festival of Speed should be ready for a unique motorsports event that is unlike any other in the world. The Festival of Speed and the Revival are two of the most special and now iconic motor-centric events that happen from year-to-year.
The Festival of Speed is centered around the famous Goodwood Hill Climb Event. The Hill Climb event runs from Thursday to Sunday where hundreds of new and classic vehicles take to the track twice each day. The excitement of the event crescendos on Sunday, for the Sunday Shoot Out, where all of the cars compete for the fastest time. Although the event is based on the Hill Climb there are many more sights and interesting interactive attractions at the event.
The track for the Hill Climb is just 1.16 mile or 1.86 kilometer in length. The track has nearly a 5% gradient with a total elevation change of 304 feet or 92.7 meters during the run. Currently the fastest time was set in 2019 by Romain Dumas in the electric Volkswagen I.D. R coming in at 39.9 seconds. The fastest timed F1 car was set by Nick Heidfeld in 1999 in a McLaren MP4/13 coming in at 41.6 seconds. That said due to safety F1 cars are no longer eligible for timed runs and are now used for spectacular on track demonstrations.
