United States Grand Prix

United States Grand Prix

The 5th anniversary of the US Grand Prix was surely one to remember. With interesting race day strategy and Red Bull continuing to probe Mercedes in the ongoing chess game. It was another race, that Nico Rosberg worked hard to get into a position to win, but again it got away from him. Surprisingly, this was Hamilton`s first win since Germany in July. It couldn`t have been better timed.

There was another reason his victory was significant. This was Hamilton`s fifth in the United States, his fourth (from five races) in Austin - and it also made him only the third man in history to win 50 Grands Prix (after Michael Schumacher and Alain Prost).

COTA put together an amazing weekend of off-track entertainment, with Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift in concert on Saturday night and Usher on Sunday, all included with your race ticket, as well as a full weekend of entertainment in and around the circuit.

USGP Grand Prix Offers:

Any doubts that the Circuit of the Americas would produce a `passing` race were well and truly laid to rest with a tremendous return to the US by Formula One. The grandstands feature excellent views of more than a single corner or straightaway and the layout allowed for enough passes throughout the field that it was easy to lose count - when was the last time you could say that about a Formula One race?

We aren`t stretching the truth when we say it is one of the best F1 facilities on the calendar. So, anyone want to get back in line with us for next year`s United States Grand Prix in Austin?

United States Grand Prix
Over the years the United States has had more US F1 drivers and hosted more Grand Prix races than any other nation. From the wonderful Watkins Glen to the fabulous COTA circuit, there are few nations with tracks to compare. There were of course a few duds along the way that we should pretend never happened. The COTA circuit in Austin, even with its current financial problems, is amongst the really great circuits of the World, Spa Francorhamps, Suzuka, Monza and COTA are in a class of their own. F1 Management, no matter how dysfunctional and greedy they may appear and the FIA has made safe and exciting events that have become some of individual nation`s biggest events.

The F1 cars are the best they have ever been, they are now faster than 3.5 V10`s and use 65% less fuel. Their designs are taking the automobile industry into the 21st century. Mercedes has a 25% increase in sales due to their dominance with the hybrid F1 formula. VW would have achieved the same if they made a hybrid F1 car rather than cheat pollution tests with their diesel engine software. The future of F1 in the United States looks really good with COTA and Haas making a sensible and successful entry into the F1 championship. It would be even better if Haas had a Chrysler engine, I must mention that if I ever meet "M" the chief of Chrysler, Fiat, Ferrari and Alfa. It really makes sense for Auto Conglomerates to partner with smaller race teams with an engine like a rebranded Ferrari unit. Great marketing and the latest unit development with an interchange of engineers, the Chrysler Dodge group would become the proud partner of a great team and their production cars would improve.

What about more US tracks, Bernie would love one. He keeps teasing us with possible tracks in New York, Long Beach, Watkins Glen, Las Vegas and California, or is it the F1 press who make up these tales. Sometimes I`m told confidentially that this person or that City is close to putting together a Formula 1 deal. It takes so much money with so little return, it is not a sensible investment. There are tracks that could be used if they had adequate financial backing, the likes of Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen or Long Beach to name a few, and it wouldn`t cost $300M, but it would cost a lot.
