Daytona 500

When it comes to the Superbowl of NASCAR, this is it! Don’t miss this spectacular event! Orlando is a destination in itself – NASCAR, Disneyworld, Universal, let the kid in you come out! Grand Prix Tours guarantees a stress-free trip to Daytona International Speedway, let us do the ground work, you just sit back and enjoy the ride…

It is stock car`s biggest, most important and most anticipated race of the year. It is also the first race of the season which makes this a must-see-event! A nearly $2 million payday awaits the winner - but the spoils of gold and glamour are merely part of the race`s mystique. There`s also the heritage of the most prestigious race in NASCAR.

The Daytona 500 is the direct successor of the shorter races held in Daytona. Back then the track was partially on the beach so cars were equipped with wipers to combat the sand they faced. The inaugural Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway was run in 1959, and since then NASCAR has grown from its provincial Southeastern roots into a national phenomenon.

Drivers crave a win at this track and the racing spectacle is unmatched. You haven`t truly experienced NASCAR if you haven`t experienced the "Great American Race!" Don`t miss the 61st running of the Daytona 500!

Daytona 500
From its early 200-mile days at the Daytona Beach Road Course, the Florida race has become an incredible success. A 2.5 mile concrete oval known as the Daytona International Speedway opened in 1959 with a 500 mile format and soon became referred to as the Daytona 500. It became NASCARS second 500 mile race after the Southern 500 NASCARS oldest race held at the Darlington`s egg shaped Raceway.

The Daytona 500 is the first race of the each new season and is the most prestigious race of the year. NASCAR`S Daytona 500 stock car race is like the Indy car`s Indy 500, Le Mans 24 hour sports car race and the F1 Monaco Grand Prix. It is a race that every driver wants to win as the prestige is second only to winning the championship.

The 500 is the final event of Speedweek which is a full week festival of speed in the last week of February. The Daytona 500 is known as the "Crown Jewel of Stock car racing", "Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing" or "the Great American Race". With these sorts of accolades there is no doubt February is the biggest event on the NASCAR calendar.
