Forget about points, forget about the championship - and yes, we are still talking about NASCAR. The All-Star Challenge comes home to Charlotte in a non points-paying, winner-takes-all event that gives drivers a chance to show off their skills for a $1,000,000 jackpot. This unique event held at Lowe`s Motor Speedway preludes the season`s longest race week, the Coca-Cola 600.

The field consists of 21 drivers who have proven to be `the best of the best` in the sport by winning previous races and championships. Drivers become eligible for the race by winning a race this year or in the previous year, winning a championship in the past 10 years, or winning the All-Star race in the past 10 years. To shake things up a bit, the 80-lap race is divided into 4 segments of 20-laps each, with a mandatory pit stop at the end of the 3rd segment. With such an impressive line-up, no-holds barred racing and $1 million on the line, this race is guaranteed to be exciting and unpredictable. There is little time for patience and strategy. With a win-or-wreck attitude, drivers need to go all out, get to the front and collect the win.

Fans love this unique race, all the more so since it takes place in heart of stock car racing country. Charlotte is home to just about every NASCAR team on the playing field and with drivers competing in their own backyard, bragging rights matter and the competition is fierce. Lowe`s Motor Speedway provides an excellent backdrop for the All Star Challenge. There isn`t a bad seat in the house and your tickets in the Veranda Tower provide you not only an excellent view of the entire track, but offer you elevator access and a private food court.

What better way is there to kick off the Charlotte 600 race week than with one of the most fun races of the year, the All-Star Charlotte?
